The Pouakai Tarn is thought to be an old crater once formed during the evolution of Mt Taranaki.
With dead still water running from a spring, it creates the perfect reflection of the mountain.
to get here is a 10,000 step journey each way from the car park, prepare your legs and some lunch for a good honest mission through stunning New Zealand forest.
